In this context it is crucial to have a centralized system which, contrary to current practice, in a common and unified manner manages (collection, storage, processing) the data from different and heterogeneous sources and provides decision support in managing and optimizing the distribution grid through standard and ad-hoc analyses and correlations, KPI dashboards, and reporting.
The prototype application system for data management, analytics and reporting on Quality of Electrical Energy in MV/LV distribution networks is in the first phase focused on LV substations level. The LV substations are currently almost entirely excluded from the distribution network remote monitoring and management system.
However, this part of the distribution network is fast becoming (over)loaded with quickly growing number of distributed power sources, causing an ever more pressing need for an application system, which enables on-line insight into up-to-date information on power quality in LV distribution networks.
The prototype system features a modular design, which enables gradual extensions of system’s performance and functionalities. The system is in general composed of:
- Subsystem for collection, preprocessing and storage of data
- Data analytics and reporting subsystem
- User interface
Future development plans include extensions of system features to enable unified and centralized management of other data and process types, e.g. smart metering (AMI) data.
The prototype has been developed by Smart Com in collaboration with KC SURE partners Kolektor Group and Faculty of Electrical Engineering at University of Ljubljana and external partner Elektro Primorska.
