Bartec Varnost With its New Electric Motor to an Increased Market Share

Already at the end of its development phase, the asynchronous three-phase electric motor prototype in the Ex d anti-explosive protection variant proves that it will rank at the top of our company’s market products.
The product belongs to the new series of low-voltage electric motors with a power of between 250 and 400kW and was developed in the framework of KC-SURE in cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Maribor. The first orders for the next two years have ensured the industrialisation of the product, whereas performance results forecast promising sales that should provide for a 10% growth of the company’s revenue and a 20% growth of profit in the field of electric motors.

Bartec Varnost d.o.o., in cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Maribor, within the framework of the activities of the KC-SURE competence centre, has developed and built a prototype of the asynchronous three-phase electric motor in the Ex d anti-explosive protection variant with an axial height of 355mm, which belongs to the new series of asynchronous electric motors with a power ranging from 250 to 400kW.
The prototype of the engine has undergone electrical testing in the VUES accredited laboratory in Brno, whereas the certification and explosion testing according to ATEX and IECEx are performed at the FTZU authorized institution in the Czech Republic. All the results of the explosion testing at the beginning of August 2013 were a success, and at the moment, the development is in the optimization stage of individual types and powers (2p, 4p, 6p), where a special emphasis is placed on efficiency and heating.
New products provide us with greater competitiveness, particularly in the field of mining, where together with switching equipment (motor safety switches, circuit breakers, transformers, etc.) they now cover the entire range of products with the greatest demand.
The first orders prove that this is a success story in the making. In 2013, the company received orders for three motors, and for 2014, additional nine 400kW motors have been ordered. So far, the company has invested as much as €350,000 of its own assets into the development and equipment. At the same time, we are planning new investments in the amount of more than €450,000 that are necessary to prepare the product for market introduction. The electric motor 5KTC 355–400kW was disassembled and presented at this year's fair of mining equipment in Katowice from 10–13 September 2013.
